Avatar, the way of water - re view

 Avatar, the way of water

The best movie going experience I could’ve asked for . What I witnessed was a whole new universe of sheer imagination, Humanity’s perception of evolution, unity of tribes to aid survival, interspersed species emotionally bonding with their tribes all within a three hour exercise of universe building & survival drama. The way of water, interconnects emotions with humans, tribes, species in way never seen before . This is truly a remarkable feat by James Cameron. The Metamorphosis of humans into another species, living afresh, learning anew the laws of survival and winning with an insider seemed like a rendering of Charles darwins evolution of mankind with an avatar of Krishna, both in skin and mind . Reminded me of the word all knowing and omnipotent when I saw Jack sully go about protecting his family . For me, it was a philosophy of evolution of a species which contained a careful integration of modern warfare with deep rooted mythical OG strategy . When imagination meets perfect execution you get a product that emotes, chokes, inspires and saves you from the mundane existence of mankind. One of the best movies I have witnessed in my life .

Ted Lasso - A few words

A mushy Sports drama where a US Football coach is hired to coach uk soccer for AFC Redmond .

“fictionfact”

Well intentioned,  with its heart at the right place.

Positives - Unadulterated movement towards positivity, nice quirks on man management,

Minus -  High dose of unapologetic Melodrama and moral science lessons.

If it doesn’t make you cringe it’ll make you binge

“The diamond dogs have struck again”

Through the peaks and the troughs, it level sets your expectations and remains perfectly watchable !

Here’s a fun fact from ted lasso “if you get the last place on the premiership you’ll get to the championship” 😂

Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana

It is the beautiful unraveling of the ascent of a hustler and a hothead to the pinnacle of power and the story of the schemes of bureaucracy .  It is a Wacky, notorious, gory and hilarious package delivered at the right time , place and extent in this brilliant gangster saga .

An ode to the Actors,

Raj B Shetty delivers the role of Shiva, the hothead, with aplomb. That is what happens when his craft in acting is combined with his tremendous timing of dark humor, it is master craftsmanship unfolding before your eyes.  If I say a star is born, it would be demeaning to this legend in the making . Would not be surprised if he wins the Karnataka State award for best actor just for his Rudra thandav /Huli aata (Tiger dance) scenes . But I am lost for words. One of the best individual performances in recent times in Sandalwood. Deafening whistles and rapturous applause in a Multiplex is a rarity for me in recent times.

Rishab Shetty does justice to the role of Hara, the hustler. He lets us imbibe his character arc from a naive hustler to the kingpin of Managala Devi.

Locales & cinematography-

Perfect Mangalore locales, pitch perfect dialect, indigenous character artists create a lifelike Mangala Devi for us to witness in awe .

A few delectable words to the Sensible writing -

Every movie goer would wonder what could possibly go wrong from the intermission, but the unraveling of the conflict and the believable writing will keep you going till the very end.  Even though you know the logical conclusion you are built up to, you route for the climax with all the anticipation.

BGM - A perfect and mellow undertone to the craft  and a few uninterrupted interlaces of subtle melodies that fit onto the grand scheme of things like duck to water. Befitting and Pleasant !

The marvelous  Shettys' combine yet again for one of the best movies to come out of  sandal wood in the recent times.   Long may this continue.... You guys killed the lotus eater in me and made me resort to words again.

Dear All,

Be prepared to be mesmerized as the beginning is the end for all amoral rises to the throne of power     ......

The means to an end is the cause till the end ....

Fargo

When bullets can sing the lullaby of death and stranglers get to dispatch the devil to heaven. When all seems conquered yet the simplest of knives take you apart. It’s poetic justice. #fargoseason4

All bad men die a gory death, the good survives  beyond- The Fargo Justice. The meek get to sing hallelujah  to lucifers wards.

Fargo, more predictable yet delectable #fargoseason4

Kavaludaari - My View

A brilliant and thrilling path less traversed by recent Kannada cinema
A meticulous thriller with certain blind spots that one would gloss over in the brilliant screenplay and excellent cinematography,
To summarize, this movie packs carefully constructed sequences, blind gun shots to deceive, plot twists that only the gifted would imagine, honest actors, “Ananth Nag”- the definition of character artist, herculean tasks accomplished with simplicity and logic, hats off performance in a negative role,
I am not experienced enough to rate the nuanced acting skills of the Nag genius ( A biased fan of this underrated master of the art) nor the subtle yet apt of Achyuth kumar
The Antagonist in the earlier parts of the movie has done brilliantly (name not available to quote), Rishi has the aesthetics and the acting skills to become a super star of Kannada cinema and he has done justice to his role of the unhired yet curious detective.
No spoilers in this one as I thoroughly enjoyed it and hence the non-review of the script would connote “please see it to believe it”. Even the beginning of the film with a few seconds inspired by “Mad Men” oozes class. I will leave you with two words that should inspire Kannada cinema “Hemanth Rao” – the director of this movie and the one that directed “Godhi Banna Sadharana Maikattu”. Watch it, bedazzled! #Kavaludaari

Super Deluxe- My View

Super Deluxe
Unabashed interpretation of sexual and human misgivings
My effort to understand
Upping the Ante with uber cool writing …..

Humanised transgender, trivialised theism and the associative schema of the psyche, empathised infidelity and emphasised excuse unfettered by moral restraint, porn for sexual gratification and a porn star for a family member, a sexual predator in uniform who makes unwelcome lascivious advances to the neutral and opposite genders, theory of evolution explained for layman.
And when you begin to think people can’t do much with the word eccentric, there’s an alien’s view of beauty that puts to shame a male’s vision of beauty.

Actor – Character  - My Take
Vijay sethupathi in trance as the transgender Shilpa –Heart felt maybe repentant
Mysskin as Arputham - a confused believer and a performer of miracles - Masterful
Fahad Faisal as Mukhil – A stuggling wannabe actor - the transformed husband dealing with infidelity – Subtle and nuanced,
Samantha as Vaembu  - Flagrantly “open” champion of infidelity  - Best performance to date in her career
Bhagavathi perumal –as Berlin - A horny buffon in uniform who gets his way when sees wrong– Amazingly eccentric portrayal
Gayathrie – A traditional wife who waits all her life for the company of a person who consummated their marriage –Enough
Ramya Krishnan as Leela – An erstwhile pornstar exposed by todays cult – Mahismathi could never overdo her role – apt
Ashwanth Ashokkumar – A kind in anticipation of Father – A gender neutral child genuinely content just on having a parent as “dad” – Marvellous performance
Cinematography – It was claimed that two were involved. But this one is a seamless integration. Cant comment more owing to lack of technical knowledge. But there is a similarity in the Background music of yesteryears and the consistent frames used like in Aaranya Kandam.
Summary - A movie of amoral thrills sensitised and rationally explained to the minute detail. A dissertation on what people perceive as Amoral when they are not part of the act and the fallacy of human mind when they are a part of it.
All amoral acts as construed by family members are to be condoned in an existential crisis by expletive thoughts of rationality dumbed down to us the laymen? Sexual urges can cause collateral damage? Find out before it is too late. Super deluxe might not stand the test of time in theatres. Though commercially, it has veiled cheap thrills to superficially exhilarate the normal, who may enjoy it when no one’s noticing and be a contagiously corrupting influence bad mouthing it to people around for his/her own good. More often than not the questions asked of us by Kumaraja weren’t open to public view, but this attempt asks questions which as a common man I do not have answers for. Please do watch and promote.

Mahanati/ Nadigayar Thilakam

A fitting tribute to the “Prima donna”. It’s all about bringing back to celluloid, the life of a successful actress in her prime and her publicised fall from grace.

The prime characters portrayed -

Savithri -  a majestic actress turning into a damsel in distress, becoming a prey to adultery, intoxicated in grief, with a heart that loved once and hands that’ve soiled by giving, lives a pauper while leaving.

Gemini Ganeshan - a womaniser with well recorded history of hatred against the institution of marriage, married twice yet unsatisfied, loves her, marries. Her , incensed by the jealousy of her fame commits adultery, drifts away from her with his flings.

To the actress and other memories -

The paint clad Keerthi Suresh recreates the illusion of Savithri. Her depiction of innocence, somewhat childish vigour and some of the camera angles make you feel that she’s Savithri in flesh and blood. She adapts to the role like duck to water. This might be one of her career best performances.
The cinematography is par excellence. It sets you on a picturesque journey into the biography of the Mahanati.

Dulquer Salman plays the role of “Kadhal Mannan”, Gemini Ganeshan, a womaniser, an adorable charmer. He plays it quite well. His dubbing could have been better in Telugu.

Other cog in wheel characters have done what it takes to be part of this good movie.

Summary  -

This movie is like watching a rare flower in all its glory wither away into the abyss painfully, wind stricken, well noticed yet unattended.

The movie might not not have too much depth as the director/script writer has tried to cover every facet of her life.

Its definitely worth a watch if one likes a well portrayed biography covering all important aspects and of course a decent watch for every fan of the Mahanati/Nadigayar Thilakam Savithri.
