Sh amithabh

The Shamitabh - a great tribute to most loved voice by a talented actor in Dhanush.

Balki and his love for one liners and his knack of advertising is on display in this movie. The story is about a talented mute Danish, wannabe actor, being given the strength of sound by Amithabh.
The film portrays what could happen to talent if one were to overcome an inability through another's ability. It is about the gift of voice to the confidence of the silent. The story that What happens when success dawns on the people with combined identity, egos grow. It involves heated exchanges of words directed at one another beyond the success of combination of acting ability of Danish and the voice that worded it ( Amitabh .With imagination at its core when it comes to voicing a mute's thought, the director has scripted his thought to achieve what seems impossible. It's also reveals the admiration for the voice of a legend.

Supremely gifted actors show off their performances to make Shamitabh a reality. Dhanush here really stands up to the Icon of an actor Amitabh. He should now have a pan India presence after that. If there was one drawback that Dhanush had for Bollywood, that was his voice, which has now been voiced over by Amitabh in this movie.

And in the climax, the renaissance caused by waning egos and late realisation succumbs to the clutch of fate and the intoxication of success is overcome by the muting silence that follows. After an accidental fate, the drunkard loses his voice, an actor loses his life, there is renewed silence this time without hope as intoxication is muted by the reality of the fate that ensues.

The kick of a whisky filled with a husky voice is subdued by the all conquering water of fate  in this supposed dramedy which ends in a tragedy.

With mainstream cinemas like this, India is heading west as Bollywood heads for a fest.

"I" the review by me:)

It's a magnum opus, it has everything for the eye - Exotic locales, A Greek goddess in Amy, chiseled bodies with that of Vikram, Gravity defying stunts. It's an example of what bottomless coffers could do to Indian Cinema. It's Sponsored by billions and will be definitely watched my millions at the very least I hope.
Basically it is Beauty and the beast and its supposed to be a feast. Revenge brings out the dope of evil from Shankar, who adds fuel to his fire of gore in his thought process in revenge sequences. The beauty of love lies not in what meets the eye but in that which meets your heart being the moral. The beast of appearance is conquered by the beauty of ones heart if I may reiterate to be clim axe. For Shankars fans' familiarity of Tamil movies may breed indifference, as this is an admixture of appearance from Perazhagan and punishments from Anniyan, except that one is rewarded with life sentence of gore rather than a death sentence of the ilk aforementioned.

Vikram does his best, he gains a few pounds and sheds it when required like pound were to be a currency. His acting, with loads of makeup still is a class apart from what you would've witnessed. His effort alone warrants a rapturous applause from us. It ain't visible to the eye though sadly owing to a weak plot. He shoulders the unbearable weight of expectation and makes an attempt at punching above his weight.

Let's come to Shankar,
He captures the beauty in songs (would've cost the producer 75% of budget) but doesn't feed the beast( of an actor Vikram) with the script. I've always felt Shankar turns  a poet in his musical bits (songs) but then turns Rajini's scriptwriter at full throttle for most parts in the movie trying to please audience.
Will the beast conquer the masses or will the majority rule against fairy tales is a question that remains:)

My view is that it's a collage of costly dreams that suddenly awaken you to impending reality. This song keeps going on and on and I shall leave you at that, " Nadu kadalule kappala yerangi thalla mudiyuma . . "

P.K. my thoughts

P.K is an alien’s refurbishment of Oh My God peekay!
An effort to curb the enthusiasm of the followers of the messengers of God. It portrays the creativity of the messengers of god in creating the creator himself, capitalizing on the fear for the formless.  The Concept of God created by the messengers is shown to be an apotheosis of Bogus.
An Alien questions Hindu faith, along with that of other religions. Sadly only the idolatry worship of Hindus and their identification of Creative Spiritual leaders is majorly condemned to ridicule, only a passing reference is given to other religions, for fear of a major backlash from those who respect their religion more. Aamir tries to be an alien, Anushka tries to stay interested in what he has to say, Hirani’s magic this time out doesn’t leave me spellbound, but left me thinking of the misnomer in the Aphorism of god perceived through the eyes of human apostles.
Definitely worth a watch as P.K comes in a package which entertains, makes you think for a change, makes you change your thinking, re-defines faith by giving you one liners of intellect every now and then.  I felt something is inexplicably missing, please fill in the blanks, dont know what.  May be he tries to tell, what you follow is tradition, but what you believe in is the concept and what one has faith in is the formless, for the formless is God, who never deceives, who answers even missed calls made by posers like emissaries and  soothsayers, for commoners.

Kaaviya thalaivan

A love triangle of the old with a benefactor male and an effort that is bold. Plotted with pure hearted jealousy, With music that sizzles and plot that fizzles out to unite lovers for a tragic closure. A noble effort of novelty, with acting that could've been better and tragedy that could've been bitter. Vasantha balan tried a Shakespeare but could only afford Raghuvaran( prithviraj) to play a pivotal role. Though its Siddharth who's afforded a chance to pull a rabbit out of the hat, the expression of prithvi raj is what enthuses you from the crowd while witnessing the act. Captivating visuals help you adore the effort, and the background music aids your comfort. A stare of innocence into the heart of evil helps plant the seeds of rehabilitation for one's misdeeds is what we are made to believe. Overall it's more of a tragedy that leaves you with crocodile tears in the end, but worth your time for its novel picturisation, prithviraj's acting, background score that's just enough for your rupee outlay.

Nightcrawler

A night rider turns night crawler, and the gory night turns the rider into a reporter.
A story of a cold blooded reporter's life journey from a petty thief who theives his way from survival to reporting of crimes. On his way to top, he mugs a police officer, premeditates and films his own assistant being shot, offers his role as a boyfriend to his employer, acquires all that he sees that he wants, sends a fellow reporter to coma by making the guy's Van break free. This is a movie that'll amuse you as it offers scant regard for morality that forms part of humanity, depicted with brutal reality. A relentless reporter who shall stop at nothing, propels himself to fame. Nightcrawler crawls beneath your conscience to depict the normality of reality in media infotainment being reported. By far the pick of the lot in the last few months. Watch it for Jake Gylenhall and his unnerving acting.

Interstellar - take 1

"Of all the things you would've imagined of Nolan, this is nothing like anything you would have seen before" - borrowed words of Over hype for want of words of my own I couldn't type.

This isn't a qualified opinion with research on the accuracy of scientific events that occur in the movie. It's just a light hearted take on a movie of abundant ambition that's bordering on the black hole and finally gets sucked into it. Interstellar is just freedom of Imagination running wild. Stellar performances and visuals make us believe in Interstellar that we can rage, rage against the darkness of ignorance in science. We can believe that we can travel back in time and set a morse code without remorse, to correct the future . Even when in space where there's No LAN, you believe coz of Nolan that you can Skype your messages without network. Matthew is tailor made for the part he plays. Matt Damon plays a negative role to perfection. Inter-stellar is indeed worth a watch as it's like an Apple Iphone launch, it's nothing like anything you've seen before, with visuals which can capture the imagination of what could've been from Astro chapters of yesteryears. Gravity plays hero to save dusty earth. Thoroughly enjoyable, even when your knowledge of what's beyond the universe is limited to the nomenclature of planets. Watch it for difference!!

Khoobsurat

Bahut Khoob surat;
When Cinderella comes around princesses don't stand a chance, as this is a fairy tale for kids.

What happens when a Firangi enters unchartered territory and into a lions den? The lion turns a pet in the hands of an angel:)

Dashing looks of the prince are backed by nuanced and subtle acting required to pull off the role of a  prince. Mili (Sonam's)Milgayi tho Chakravarthy mujko bhi banadegi. Sonam's not so good acting, gets better. Her characterisation reinvigorates the kid in you and makes you wanna princess from the crib.  It's a bit too cute for maturity.

Overall watch it If you've been brought up watching Disney's fairy tales, I have been and I liked it.  Btw fairy tales were only fair and purely tales:) Else you wouldn't find much new, except the avatar and energy as it is the very usual and expected concept of love rendered without surprises.
